As we’ve mentioned before, one of the great benefits of attending Startup Weekend is the chance to meet not only other entrepreneurs but the judges, mentors, and coaches, as well as our keynote speaker, are some of the most established, respected veterans of the Sacramento startup scene. We’ve got an incredible lineup, here’s a look at who you can expect to meet this coming weekend.


Sheri Atwood
CEO, SupportPay

Sheri Atwood is the Founder & CEO of SupportPay by Ittavi (an acronym for “it takes a village’). Sheri is a former Silicon Valley executive, a single mom & a child of a bitter divorced. Raised by a single mom & the only person in her family to go to college, she married at 19, completed undergrad in less than 4 years, finished her MBA 10 days before her child was born, while working full time, divorced at 25 & was the youngest Vice President at Symantec. She taught herself how to code and is an expert in front end development. Sheri has been named “#5 of 50 Women in Tech Dominating Silicon Valley” and a “Top 40 Under 40 Executive in Silicon Valley”.

Christine Folck
Program Manager, The Shop at VSP Global

Christine Folck is a  senior design-thinking specialist with years of proven experience implementing human-centered design process methodologies, tools and techniques. She is passionate about IHI performance improvement, project management, improvement sustainability, innovation processes, and human-centered project implementation and improvement design. She is trained and skilled in LEAN, Six Sigma, ethnography, human-centered-design, Agile innovation, healthcare, business, and facilitation. Christine is committed to positively impacting lives, every decision, every day.


Oleg Kaganovich
Founder CEO at Wyndow

Oleg is the founder of real-time local discovery startup Wyndow. In addition to being the company’s Chief Wyndow Washer, Oleg is an investor, adviser, operations and former non-profit executive, with an interest in media and entertainment, travel, energy, environment, sustainability, food & agriculture, and consumer products. Over the past several decades, he has spent his time focused on company building, partnership/relationship development, mentoring, and investing in early stage innovation-driven companies in North America, Europe, Saudi Arabia/greater Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Russia.


Eric Ullrich

Eric is passionate about creating collaborative efforts that foster startups and innovation in the Sacramento Region. He is the cofounder of Hacker Lab, a coworking and maker space that has hosted and presented multiple hackathons, including the very first Startup Weekend Sacramento. Eric is the creator and director of The Startup Hustle bootcamp, a 6-week program that builds entrepreneurial skills.




John Bissell
CEO & Co-founder, Micromidas, Inc.

John Bissell is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Micromidas, Inc., a chemical technology firm that converts biomass into both conventional petrochemicals and new chemical intermediates. Mr. Bissell is an inventor on a dozen issued and pending patents, was awarded UC Davis’ Young Alumnus Award in 2013, was on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2014, and was listed as one of Goldman Sachs 100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs in 2014. Mr. Bissell received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Davis.


Jyoti Das
CTO, SupportPay

Jyoti Das is the CTO of Ittavi Inc., and leads the development of SupportPay, the first first automated child support payment platform. He is a seasoned technology leader with extensive experience building and leading global organizations that deliver software solutions. His broad experience includes leading ERP, decision-support, Big Data and consumer products development. He is passionate about entrepreneurship and serves in the advisory boards of 2 technology startups in the Sacramento region. Prior to that he served as a technology director at Intel. He lives in Folsom and volunteers his spare time for Cognitive Exchange, a local non-profit focused on youth leadership.


Sabya Das
Principal at Moneta Ventures

Sabya Das is a Principal at Moneta Ventures. Sabya is a technology fanatic who focuses on the development and analysis of Moneta Ventures’ many internet and software based portfolio companies. Raised in Folsom, CA, he was always fascinated by technology, and has built and developed a multitude of web applications and products. Sabya evaluates new opportunities for investment and assists Moneta’s portfolio companies in a variety of operational roles. He joined Moneta Ventures as an Investment Analyst in 2014. Sabya graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a major in cognitive science/computational modeling.


Cinde Dolphin
CEO and Developer, KILI Medical Drain Carrier

Cinde developed a small, simple, yet novel medical device to address a need by many post surgical patients. The KILI Drain Carrier replaces safety pins with soft mesh-constructed aprons that safely and comfortably suspends drains during patient recovery.The business gained a vision and foundation at Startup Weekend – Women’s Edition in Nov. 2014. Several hospitals are now using the innovation and Cinde has extended another part of her enterprise to form a franchise of women-owned small businesses in developing countries.Cinde is a former organizer of Startup Weekends, and is an advocate of the Capital Region Small Business Development Center. Prior to starting KILI Carriers, she spent 25 years as a marketing executive for major beer and wine brands.


Rich Foreman
CEO and Founder

Rich Foreman is the CEO and Co-Founder of Apptology. He leads Apptology with over 20 years of experience in leadership, engineering, mobile application development and sales. Rich has a BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Washington, an MPA from Troy State University and was an officer in the U.S. Navy. Rich recently co-authored his first book, “Tap into the Mobile Economy.” His blog has been listed in the top 20 Mobile Marketing Blogs of 2014. He is also the Founding Director of the Sacramento chapter of Startup Grind. He has been featured on KCRA3, NEWS10, Good Day Sacramento, the Sacramento Business Journal, and the Sacramento Bee. Rich is also a regular contributor to Startup Grind, Startup Monthly, and Money FM 105.5.



Jessica Holcombe
Corporate and IP Licensing Attorney, Holcombe Law Group

Jessica formed Holcombe Law Group in 2012 and currently represents companies in media, technology, and the spirits industries. Prior to founding the firm, Jessica was a senior corporate attorney with RMKB in Silicon Valley and General Counsel to Boyett Petroleum. Jessica has advised emerging companies on business formation, corporate governance, financings, equity compensation, employment matters, IP licensing, mergers & acquisitions, commercial leases, and securities exemptions. Jessica received her JD/MBA from UC Davis.


Joe Koepnick
Associate Director, New Venture Resources University of California, Davis, Venture Catalyst

Joe brings over 30 years of experience in early-stage technology development, intellectual property management and licensing, and entrepreneurial management to this role. As a founder, board member and CEO of two startups derived from on university technologies, he helped secure SBIR Phase 1 and Phase 2 grants, seed and venture funding, and led successful negotiations for the acquisition of one of the companies. He has a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering technology from the Ohio Institute of Technology.


Drisha Leggitt
VP U.S. Business Development and Marketing Anpac Bio-Medical Science Company

Drisha is responsible for partnership, media, advocacy and investment development; communications, branding and marketing strategic planning and execution; external, community, investment and related communications tool/outreach; philanthropy/sponsorship and community relations; and managing Anpac Bios’ external affairs, advocacy, and brand awareness activities – particularly with regards to Anpac’s “Cancer Differentiation Analysis” (CDA) Technology. Anpac Bio was founded by world-renowned biomedical and nanotechnology scientists and engineering experts; creating and launching break-through, leading edge, early cancer detection technology.


Chris Minnick
Co-Founder, WatzThis?

Chris Minnick is an author, serial entrepreneur, trainer, software developer and CEO of WatzThis? ( Minnick has overseen the development of hundreds of web and mobile projects for clients ranging in size from small businesses to some of the world’s largest companies. He’s authored or co-authored more than a dozen coding books for adults and children, including Coding with JavaScript For Dummies, JavaScript for Kids, HTML5 and CSS3 For Dummies, and Adventures in Coding.


Brett Owens
Co-Founder & CEO, Chrometa | Marketing Director & Co-Founder at LeadDyno

Brett has started and scaled two software-as-a-service companies, Chrometa and LeadDyno. Both companies were self-funded and quickly became profitable thanks to early customer’s sales. Brett and his companies have been featured by Forbes, CNBC, The Economist, Inc Magazine and other leading media channels. He is a graduate of Cornell University


John Peters
Chairman of the Board, Sacramento Angels

John Peters is an angel investor, advisor and community volunteer. John built his career as a senior executive at Hewlett Packard, BMC Software, and Touche Ross Consulting. He has a solid track record in leading and growing enterprise software businesses, developing and managing strategy through to execution, and growing and developing senior leadership staff. John is the Chairman of the Board for the Sacramento Angels and an active investor and advisor to several area startups.


Mike Phillips
Co-Founder, Vigilant

Mike is the CEO & co-founder of Vigilant, a public records search platform for due diligence research, intelligence, and monitoring. Vigilant was founded in early 2016, and its customers already include many of the largest companies, campaigns and advocacy groups across the country. Prior to founding Vigilant, Mike founded and grew a successful public affairs consulting firm, counting among his clients Fortune 100 companies, successful startups, major national non-profits and foundations, and high profile political campaigns around the country and overseas.


Chris Russell
Partner, Stoel Rives LLP

Chris Russell actively aids many emerging growth companies to achieve their financial and corporate objectives.  Many of these businesses are focused on renewable energy, life science, software, hardware, agricultural technologies and clean technologies, but Chris has experience working with an array of companies in various industries on corporate and financial matters. With a broad transactional and corporate governance experience, Chris guides entrepreneurs and business leaders on corporate issues related to all aspects of its business and their fiduciary duties in significant transactions.
